Artists Changing Tomorrow

IMG_2528Artists Changing Tomorrow (ACT), an international project of the nonprofit Arts for Rural Texas based in Fayetteville, Texas, is once again having its biannual exhibit on March 12, 2016. Over 100 pieces of artwork will be auctioned on Saturday, March 12, 2016. ACT, founded in 2010, has raised over $150,000 in its previous exhibits. All of these funds have been used directly for furthering educational and cultural experiences in communities that would not have these opportunities. Art develops creative thinking, improves communication skills, improves learning skills, creates leadership traits, and, in general, elevates the human experience.

ACTBronzeAs a Bronze Signature member of ACT, I feel fortunate that I was once again invited to submit a new work for next year’s exhibit. The Bird’s Nest painting was so much fun to create that I’ve decided to work on a series of similar nests, and I hope that the sale of this edition will help support ACT. The exhibition preview, information on the artists and their artwork and bidding information are available at:

The Arizona Art Alliance has been showing a wonderful selection of art since September 26 and will close today (October 29). I was privileged to have my watercolor “San Juan River Bighorn” juried into this show.

BasketOfPumpkinsHave a great Halloween! P.S. My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Northern Italy. We had a fantastic time, and you may well see some of the scenes from Italy appearing as new paintings in the months ahead.

Monterey & Santa Cruz

I recently returned to California’s beautiful central coast to join in the celebration of my sister’s birthday. She lives in Santa Cruz and I lived in Monterey for over 20 years before moving to Scottsdale. Aside from the great family get-together, I had an opportunity to revisit my old “neighborhood” from Santa Cruz south to Big Sur along scenic California Highway 1. Be sure to click on any of the thumbnail photos to see larger versions.

The weather was unusually warm and clear except for some early morning fog (a trademark of the area). The photos below are just a few of the area’s great photo opportunities including the Monterey marina, the sea lions at the end of Monterey’s Coast Guard pier, Fisherman’s Wharf, deer in nearby Pacific Grove, Point Lobos, Garrapata Beach and the iconic Bixby Creek Bridge about 15 miles south of Carmel. I came away with dozens of photographs, so expect to see some paintings of this area later this year.

As you can tell from the photographs, the area’s beauty is truly breathtaking, and I miss the lush green trees, colorful flowers, sweeping ocean views, and of course, the wildlife. I hope you enjoy this little travelogue, and if you see any particular photo you would like to have painted, contact me…I’ll arrange it!
