Hidden in the Hills

Mark Your Calendars

HITHLogoFall is here, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it’s time once again for the Sonoran Arts League Hidden in the Hills free, self-guided tour of local artist studios. This year’s seventeenth edition promises even more with over 160 artists displaying art in every medium. This year also marks my seventh year of participating in this great event.

Hidden in the Hills features artists in their studios who are located in northeast Scottsdale, Phoenix, Carefree, Cave Creek. In addition, many of the individual studios have partnered with other artists from all over the Valley of the Sun to share studio space during this event.

For example, I’ll be sharing my studio (#21) with five other talented artists including: Janet Blumenthal (MoodIndigoArt.com), Suzanne Brown (SuzanneBrownJewelry.com), Jan Griggs (JanGriggsFineArt.com), Jackie Kahn (jmkahn@cox.net) and Lynnette Moody (LynnetteMoody.com).

HITHAd2013-600pxAlso this year, my neighbor and talented sculptor Peter Skidd is opening his new studio (#20). Along with Peter’s steel sculptures, he’s joined by Guadalupe Apodaca featuring her native American oil paintings, Dav3 Kurz and his photorealistic pastels, and Sandi Ciaramitaro showing her transparent watercolors and oil en plein air paintings.

That’s10 artists within easy walking distance. You won’t find that much talent centrally located anywhere else on the tour!

So, mark your calendar now to attend Hidden in the Hills. It’s a wonderful time to get out, enjoy our fall weather, and to treat your out of town visitors to something unique to the Valley art scene.

For more information, or to plan your own tour online visit HiddenInTheHills.org. Dates are: November 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 & December 1, 2013 with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. My studio address is 26650 North 70th Place, Scottsdale, AZ. I hope to see you there.
